GERD & Acidity · Myra City Hospital, Lucknow
What's the difference between gastritis, acidity, and GERD?
Gastritis means inflammation of the stomach lining, often caused by infection, alcohol, painkillers, or stress. Acidity is a general term patients use for symptoms such as burning, sour taste, or stomach discomfort caused by excess acid. GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) occurs when stomach acid repeatedly flows back into the food pipe, causing heartburn and regurgitation. While symptoms may overlap, the underlying causes and treatments can differ significantly.
