Pancreatitis · Myra City Hospital, Lucknow
When is acute pancreatitis an emergency?
Acute pancreatitis becomes an emergency when severe abdominal pain is associated with vomiting, fever, breathing difficulty, dehydration, confusion, or low blood pressure. Some patients can develop infection, organ failure, or fluid collections around the pancreas that require urgent hospital care. Alcohol use, gallstones, and high triglycerides are common causes. Early medical treatment is important because severe pancreatitis can become life-threatening if delayed.
